External SSD not showing up in ESXi Storage

Hi!

Sidenote:- I'm very new to ESXi so please bear with me.

I'm using ESXi on the Raspberry Pi 4 8GB. I have a WD Green 240GB SSD connect to a USB 3.0 to SATA adapter and I just can't seem to get it to work. I have tried EVERYTHING. I Disabled USB Arbitrator and it still won't show up. I really need this to work but it just won't. Even when I flash the vmWare ESXi image to the SSD, it doesn't show up in the Arm Fling Device Setup.

Sincerely, Zayed

From a high level perspective it seems that ESXi has issues with the USB/SSD adapter (the RPI seems to be able to boot from it, so it's unlikely to be a hardware problem).

Can you boot ESXi, plug the disk, and then copy the /var/log/vmkernel.log file? I will likely contains errors related to USB.

Have you tried the same SSD with a different adapter?

I also don't have another adapter as I'm aware but I think I bought a USB 2.0 one a long time ago.
