office 365 custom tables

does the default office16 DEM template retains user's custom tables created in MS word ? in our case it's not being retained.

Are you referring to "quick tables"?

Those are normally stored in "Building Blockx.dotx" in %userprofile%\Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\Document Building Blocks\... which should be included by default.
