Using %username% variable in registry setting

I have an application in UEM where i have a predefined registry setting, that will make sure that lastusername=%username%

When the predefined setting is importet, it will import %username% as a string, so insted of gettig mye username USER1 as a key in registry, i get %username% as a key..

And then the registry is wrong, and application do not work the way we need it to work.

Why cant registry settings read variables?

I had to follow this guide, and define the %username% as an envorinment variable to make it work
