UEM configuration file for Microsoft Windows Sticky Notes

  • DirectFlex is enabled
  • Capture 'Auto start at logon' of Sticky Notes is included in the template
  • Might not work with Windows 10, since Sticky Notes has been replaced with an AppX package (Windows Store / Universal app).

You need to select Process During Logon and Logoff to make it work .

Mine works with Directflex.  I did not need to turn on the "Process during logon and logoff" setting.  Just make sure that you're roaming the following setting in Windows:

[IncludeRegistryTrees]

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Gaurav, what did not work in your case? Because all personal settings for Sticky Notes should be captured, even in Sticky Notes was still running at logoff. UEM will always capture personal settings at logoff as a fallback when DirectFlex does not work.

You are correct that the registry key to automatically restart Sticky Notes at logon should be processed at logon, but you can simply put that in a separate UEM Config File.

Ticking the box worked for me.

Thanks.

Hi Pim,

It is not working for me I am using Windows 10.

please let me know how to fix this issue

correct, in Windows 10, Sticky Notes has been replaced with an AppX package (Windows Store / Universal app).

I haven't found the time yet to see if we can create a new template for this.

Hi Pim,

I am waiting for it and I tried profiling it using app profiler  and trying to persist the sqlite database where sticky notes in windows 10 (it is not working either).

Thank you,

Sravan.

I have been able to save StickyNotes and StickyNotes settings on Windows 10 x64 (1703) for now. But there are some possible caveats.

First I saved the following:

[IncludeFolderTrees]

<LocalAppData>\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftStickyNotes_8wekyb3d8bbwe

I had to add a User Environment Registry Setting for deleting a specific registry key after profile archive import. Otherwise I wasn't able to launch StickyNotes.

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModel\Repository\Families\Microsoft.MicrosoftStickyNotes_8wekyb3d8bbwe]

Pat attention to the minus sign before HKEY_.....

Now, for the possible caveats, the settings above might be StickyNotes version specific. Also I'm not sure if or when the suffix (8wekyb3d8bbwe) changes. You may have to change the suffix when needed.

As far as I know (please correct me if I'm wrong) it's not possible to use wildcards for file/folder paths.

I have only tested on Windows 10 x64 (1703).

Ivan, it is working with 1607 as well

no need to change _8wekyb3d8bbwe

Thank you,

Vkmr.

Good to hear. Thanks for the feedback.

Hi Ivan,

I am facing on problem with sticky notes, it is not launching automatically when user logs into new session?

Even thou I am including "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\RESTART_STICKY_NOTES"

Thank you,

Vkmr.

Mine runs just fine, both existing and new profiles. Even though I do not have an entry in "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run".

Ticking the box also worked for me.

Prior to ticking the box, UEM never captured the Sticky Notes for some reason.

On the GPO, my "Disable DirectFlex" is set to "Disabled" so that means DirectFlex is Enabled, right?

Bonjour,

Voici mes paramètres windows 10 1803

[IncludeRegistryTrees]

HKCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModel\Repository\Families\Microsoft.MicrosoftStickyNotes_8wekyb3d8bbwe

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PenWorkspace\Notes

[IncludeFolderTrees]

<LocalAppData>\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftStickyNotes_8wekyb3d8bbwe

Using process at logon/logoff with my below settings, my start menu became completely unusable. DirectFlex fixed that, but I don't know how to tell UEM to detect stickynotes?

Win10 x1803 and I confirmed the stickynotes appxpackage matches the below locations.

Process at logon/logoff:

[IncludeFolderTrees]

<LocalAppData>\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftStickyNotes_8wekyb3d8bbwe

[IncludeRegistryTrees]

HKCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModel\Repository\Families\Microsoft.MicrosoftStickyNotes_8wekyb3d8bbwe

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PenWorkspace\Notes
