Hi,
We are running vmware UEM 8.6 on server 2008 . We would like to migrate to server 2016 and the latest version of vmware UEM (9.5).
What would be the steps as i dont seem to have found documentation for server migration .
tnx
Hi wapak,
There's nothing really special about that. The UEM 9.5 agent (FlexEngine) is fully backwards compatible with configuration files and profile archives from UEM 8.6, so I'd suggest to start with just installing the UEM 9.5 agent in your Windows Server 2016 environment, and initially keeping the Management Console and ADMX templates on 8.6.
Once all users have been moved to the new environment, you can install the 9.5 Management Console and update the ADMX templates, so you can start using the functionality that was introduced post 8.6.
Hi ,
I was thinking to do it like this.
1 Server 2016 install with vmware UEM 8.6 .
2 Robocopy all the files to the new server.
3 Shutdown the old server(2008) and rename the new server (same name as server2008) .
4 If all goes good migrate to the new UEM 9.5 (in the appropiate order)
Is that ok ?
Windows Server 2016 is only supported as of UEM 9.0...
If you don't use OS-specific Settings on the Advanced tab of Personalization it might work, but no guarantees...
