I am using App Volumes to "push" Office 2013 and sometimes 2016 (its not working at that well) to a test group of Windows 7 VM's.
Initially if I log in and setup outlook, then refresh the vm, or log into another vm at the same time, my settings are not saved or migrated.
I feel like I have all the settings set right, according to what I have read and gotten from this site.
Outlook goes through the setup process each time you have refreshed the image or log into another one.
Any ideas?
Just to clarify, you are using UEM for your profile management?
What version of UEM?
I am using UEM 9.0.0.156 and I am running into several obstacles.
For the most part I am seeing it work as described, but I cant get outlook to get configured one time and that be it!
Tired of seeing "preparing for first use" mess after a refresh.
I followed several things that do not work, and this being the most recent.
http://blogs.vmware.com/euc/2016/08/app-volumes-user-environment-manager-managing-ost-files.html
What didnt work for me there was my writable volumes never seem to mount. Always says detached and mounted 0 times. WHY?
I cant figure that out.
Then the User Environment Management Helpdesk Support Tool has parts that are grayed out and I cant use, why?
I can view logs in Explorer but not in this app.
Getting frustrated.
See the areas grayed out.
First, I suggest to not use WV unless you absolutely have to. UEM can do all the persona management for you.
Second, you need to use the UEM management console. This is the tool you need to manage and configure you users persona.
Here is my settings for Microsoft Office 2013. You need to set AutoDiscover to 1.
1. Create a Predefined Setting for the AutoDiscover registry entry.
2. Place this entry between the Flex ImportMarkers.
Set this PS Type to Full Enforced Settings, this will make this entry value be applied at every login.
For your Support tool for being grayed out, I can only think of to things that would cause this.
1. Your UEM Flex GPO Support Tools is not configured.
and/or
2. You did not install the Helpdesk Support Tool agent on your master image.
FYI, make sure you use the custom install option when installing the User Environment Manager to select both the engine and console to be installed on your system.
