Lotus Notes.zip

Lotus Notes.zip

UEM Configuration File for Lotus Notes.

NOTE:

- Lotus Notes typically stores a lot of large files in the user profile, so the UEM Profile Archive might become pretty big (larger then 10MB compressed) which has impact on the logon time.

- DirectFlex is not yet enabled, but could be enabled to improve the logon time.

I suggest adding this to the config but maybe commented out so that people can pick and choose some known possible exclusions.

[ExcludeFolderTrees]

#most of these you can do without, I saved 170MB in a fresh roll out

#put this on a network drive instead!

<LocalAppData>\IBM\Notes\Data\archive

#dont need these

<LocalAppData>\IBM\Notes\Data\gtrhome

<LocalAppData>\IBM\Notes\Data\IBM_TECHNICAL_SUPPORT

<LocalAppData>\IBM\Notes\Data\workspace\.config\org.eclipse.help.base\index

<LocalAppData>\IBM\Notes\Data\workspace\.config\org.eclipse.osgi\bundles

<LocalAppData>\IBM\Notes\Data\workspace\.configbak

#seriously?

<LocalAppData>\IBM\Notes\Data\workspace\logs

[ExcludeFiles]

#combined, this can get huge, each one is 64MB

<LocalAppData>\IBM\Notes\Data\workspace\.config\org.eclipse.osgi\*xpdplat_.jvm*

#autosave files can get enormous and arent of much use in some environments

#in notes.ini you can get the autosave to be named autosave.nsf instead of as_username.nsf using the line AUTO_SAVE_DB=AUTOSAVE , this is helpfull in other persona solutions that do not allow wildcards

<LocalAppData>\IBM\notes\data\autosave.nsf

<LocalAppData>\IBM\notes\data\as_*.nsf

#a MB here, a MB there, it adds up, trash this stuff!

<LocalAppData>\IBM\Notes\Data\cache.ndk

<LocalAppData>\IBM\Notes\Data\log.nsf

<LocalAppData>\IBM\Notes\Data\log.ntf

#now it is small enough for directflex, using when last exe exits: notes.exe, nlnotes.exe, notes2.exe

Thanks for this very detailed update!

Guys, this is exactly what I am looking for! I am working on a project where the company uses notes, and I have been thinking how we can deliver the application with AppVolumes and manage with UEM.

One question...Does it matter if notes is installed in Single User mode or Multi-User Mode? and if so, which one is the recommended installation method?

My environment will use Stateless desktops (refresh at logoff) APV 2.11 and UEM 9.x

Do I need to consiolidate the suggestions from EricNicholsEricNichols or will a consiolidated download be made available?

Thanks

Sean

Im pretty sure the only difference between the multi user and single is a service "Multi-user Cleanup" which shouldnt be needed with a floating linked clone pool.

From examining the current .zip, yes, you would need to consolidate those excludes and depending on what version of notes you use, default paths are now in IBM, not Lotus:

[IncludeFolderTrees]

<LocalAppData>\IBM\Notes

I will give this a try next week and let you know the reslts - Thank you for your assistance

We are trying to get Lotus Notes 9 to work in Horizon with UEM.  We have been attempting to use the suggestions outlined in this thread.  Has anyone had luck with LN9 and UEM yet?

Yes, using this thread I have LN9 and UEM working.  It is a bit slow on startup, but it's not intolerable.
