Desktop link in explorer favorite pane gets corrupt after starting an published application

Hi,

we are using two Citrix XenApp Sites for a migration and have an issue with the VMware User Environment Manager.

The current site based on Windows Server 2008R2, Citrix XenApp 6.5 and ImmidioFlex+.

The new site based on Windows Server 2016, Citrix XenApp 7.15 LTSR and VMware User Environment Manager 9.3.

Issue:

A user starts a desktop on the current (2008R2) site and starts a published application (e.g. Word 2016) from the new site.

When the published application opens the Desktop link in file explorer favorite pane gets corrupt.

The user folders are redirected to the user home directory by GPO.

The link source and target folder are accessible by the user.

When I deactivate VMware UEM on the new site the desktop link does not get corrupted after starting a published application.

Any ideas how to fix this behaviour?

We solved the problem by changing the folder redirection Group Policy for the link folder.

The Setting on the Windows 2016 terminal servers gpo is now set to "redirect to local user profile path" and the value "move content of links to the new location" is set to disabled. This prevents the shortcuts from being overridden.

When we move the user to the Windows 2016 terminal servers desktop we will set the Folder redirection back to userhome drive.

Hi twille,

What settings are you managing with UEM? Maybe some Explorer-related settings are incompatible between Windows Server 2008R2 and Windows Server 2016?
