Desktop Icon Arrangment Not Saving

I've created a config with the following settings and "Auto Arrange" has been disabled on the desktop:

[IncludeRegistryTrees]

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\BagMRU

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags\1\Desktop

But this does not appear to be saving desktop icon locations.  Every time a user logs off and back on, the icons are back to their default positions.  Am I missing something?

One of the great mysteries in Windows, since years :smileylaugh:

The locations get changed from time to time.

The Icons will almost certanly move if you change the resolution.

If you look for this, almost every article says "Get a 3rd Party tool".

You can try to remove the "iconcache.db", another well known file

This can help for a while.

BTW: Maybe a good idea to include at least

<Desktop>\*.lnk

<Desktop>\*.url

<Desktop>\*.sap

to make sure that the files are available

Update:

My Win10 at home suddenly decided to cast the dice at every login.

Alas, no UEM Smiley Wink

Hello, I have been trying to achieve this also but no chance...

I had to export registry keys duing logoff and import during login via gpo login/logoff script.

I tried to export/import the save reg keys using uem but it's not working, icons location is not restored.

here are the keys I'm dealing with

during logoff using logoff script gpo

REG export "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell"  \\networkLocation\yourfile.reg /y

at login using login script gpo

reg import yourfile.reg

hope it help.
