vmware tools general system error occurred

Hey guys,

Just getting started with VMware.

I'm trying to get one of our older machines converted and configured. it's Windows 2000 Pro.

conversion goes okay, but I can't get the VMware Tools installed.

keep getting an error:

A general system error occurred: Internal error.

Been scouring the boards, but can't seem to find anything on this.

Common?

Any ideas?

had to set the Guest Operating System option in the VMware Infrastructure client to Windows 2000 Server.

even though it's just 2000 Pro.

basically just didn't have the OS type set, so it didn't know what to install.

Thanks...we had RHEL5, but the OS was set to Other - 32 bit. Switched it and works perfectly.
