Does anyone any any idea when / if vmware will be supporting the conversion process for linux?

It might be a lot easier if there were not 1700 different varieties of Linux out there. In this case I think "linux" is too broad of a term. You \*might* get lucky and get support for, say, standard kernels of the Supported guest OS flavors of Linux variants. But I wouldn't hold my breath. I'd expect Solaris or Netware support first, as there are very few variations there.
Absolutely, I can understand the problems you are describing.
Specifically, I would think support for SLES and Redhat Enterprise would be a good start. I just haven't seen any roadmap or anything like this. Anyone?

Stop being a troll. From the VMWare configuration drop-down, are there 1700 entries? I WONDER WHICH VERSONS OF LINUX THE TOOL MIGHT POSSIBLY SUPPORT.
