Hi Folks,
Am converting a server and when running through the converter wizard its not listing the C drive to convert, only the D drive is listed. The account im using is in the admin group, i've even added the ___VMware_Conv_SA___ account to admin but still no joy.
Have checked in diskpart and both drives are not listed as GPT drives
Has anyone else seen this before.
Converter logs attached
Many thanks
The problem is:
2013-05-23T18:24:38.046+01:00 [00608 info 'Default'] Found volume with name "\\?\Volume{718ff21a-9a19-11de-8af7-001560ac7a82}\"
2013-05-23T18:24:38.046+01:00 [00608 warning 'Default'] Failed to get capacity for \\.\PhysicalDrive0: error opening disk device: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process (32)
2013-05-23T18:24:38.046+01:00 [00608 warning 'Default'] Skipping hard disk '\\.\PhysicalDrive0'
So you need to discover which program disables access to your C: drive
HTH
The converter-worker.log is required to check the problem.
Hi POCEH,
im not getting that far in the wizard to generate a worker.log. i need to stop before i start the conversion because the C volume is not listed
Regards
Paul
You do not provide enough information about the conversion.
If you doing conversion through Agent you need to share converte-agent log, if you converting 'Local machine' then you need to share converter-worker log. You can find the logs in folder:
XP, 2003
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\VMware\VMware vCenter Converter Standalone[Agent]\logs
Vista+
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\VMware\VMware vCenter Converter Standalone[Agent]\logs
Hi POCEH
was able to find the log file you requested and have it attached to the tread now
thanks

Thanks POCEH
Found it was the Altiris Client Service that was locking the drive
