v2p Information? (esx)

I realize there's plenty of information regarding physical to virtual, but what experience have people have going the other way (v2p)? I.e. ... production box goes belly up, easy way to push out it's functioning, virtual brethren?

I have never tested, but once I received a presentation of PlateSpin (now Novell) . It used to be known as PowerConvert, and I believe now is called Migrate

in the presentation , there was a section called V2P
