unable to convert linux suse 10.2 (converter 6.2)

Hi
I have an old Linux Suse 10.2 on IBM Hardware and I want to make it a VM, I'm using Vmware vCenter Converter Standalone 6.2.

Using the gui I put source and recieve error

I have checked the firewall and it is ok (see fw.jpg), it uses port 22

I have tested some commands

lnxsisco:~ # ssh localhost
The authenticity of host 'localhost (127.0.0.1)' can't be established.
RSA key fingerprint is fe:4c:b1:5e:57:d5:1f:b3:fc:70:74:e1:27:a0:27:94.
Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)? yes

/dev/sda6 on /tmp type reiserfs (rw,acl,user_xattr)

I have tested a phisical Windows machine and converter tries to install agent on server... so seems to go...

What other test I can do to test and understand?

Thanks
Simone

Hello, Simone,

Linux and Windows conversions use a different workflow, e.g. there is no agent installation in Linux case. In Linux case, it is the destination VM, booting from a helper ISO image, that connects to the source via SSH. So you need to have such connectivity allowed in the virtual network where the converted machine is going to be.

I would also recommend you use the latest Converter 6.3. Though it does not supported SuSE 10, this is due to the OS being obsolete by now. The logic has not been removed.

Regards,

Plamen
