You should put the files on the server where the the converter resides and specify the location of the sysprep files in "step 3 customization"->"computer info"->"Location of sysprep files"

use the sysprep files from :\SUPPORT\TOOLS\DEPLOY.CAB to a local destination (make sure you use the CD containing the same OS as the server you want to sysprep)

I'm also having this issue. I've extracted the files from DEPLOY.CAB on the Windows 2000 CD to the local hard drive of the XP machine running VM Converter.

I'm getting the same problem, tried several versions of the deployment tools and couldn't get past it Smiley Sad

I've just had this problem occur with an XP SP1 machine, and managed to get around it by using the deployment tools specifically for XP SP1

On looking at Microsoft, the OS has different versions of the deployment tools for the various SP levels, and they aren't necessarily backwards compatible.

Download this file :

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0c4bfb06-2824-4d2b-abc1-0e2223133afb&displa...

and then follow the instruction shown in the following document ( Page 345 ).

http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vi3_301_201_admin_guide.pdf

don't download Sysprep package from the link provided in the document since I have provided it in the first link.

Best Wishes
