manually installing the converter agent

Is there a way to manually install the converter agent on a pc. I am receiving the following error when it tries to install the agent:

VMware Converter agent install failed. Fatal error during installation

Is the machine remote? If so, just install Converter directly on the machine and it will install the agent.
