linux conversion attach existing disk

Hi,

i tried to convert the linux 5.5 (RHEL) but it failed with the following error,

FAILED: An error occurred during the conversion: 'KeepOneBootEntry:
There is no matching kernel modules for kernel /boot/xen.gz-2.6.18-194.el5'

This physical server have huge capacity of data (500 GB), then i changed the kernel from XEN to basic and rebooted the physical server and cloned only OS volume.

Now the clone is working fine. i want to know is it possible to attached the failed VM disk ( data 500GB) to new VM, without running again whole process.

thanks,

You can attach it to the existing VM (the clone that is working fine). You may need to do some manual mounting (like adding an entry to fstab) and it should be fine.

Please let meknow if same kernel(Xen) is supported for p2v or nor..

has anybody done LInux migration above then Redhat 5.4 successfully.  Till redhat 5 i have not faced any issue.

do you also have a xen-boot option ?
you may want to remove it before the import - it will not work inside a VM

Hi Ravi,

not sure if you find something about your issue yet.

But here's a kb which says Xen Kernel is not supported.
