how to convert a old linux desktop (etch4+kde3) into a windows vmware workstation 7.1 vm ?

hi !

i have a old dev desktop under linux (debian etch4 and kde3 in 32bits ).

how can i convert it into a virtual machine runnable under wmware workstation 7.1 on windows 7 x64 bits.

moreover,another problem :  i have a cd drive but not other free hard drive niether windows partition (and cannot connect another HD).

Deos the converter application can detect and use usb HD drive or just usb key ? My linux harddrive is only a 10Gb drive.

VMware converter cold clone method from a boot CD should be the solution for you. I haven't tried it, but I think there should be no problem storing the data on a local USB stick.
