I have downloaded VMWare Workstation 16 and the gone to contert a physical computer to virtual and tis has in turn taken me to the download for vCener Converter Standalone.... which does not exist!!
What am I missing? is there a new alternative that will let me convert a physical computer to virtual?
or is this still valid but just downloaded from elsewhere?
or ????
vCenter Converter is still available for download... search the site for 'Converter'... I followed a link just today and got hits for 4 pages...
Hmm... I see... the links I followed also fail to find any page (other than the 6.11 Open Source page... which doesn't help). Let me flag this and see if an employee can follow up.
This thread is in the area for Converter Standalone:
Exactly, Scott... and if you try to follow those links, they are dead ends. That's why I posted in the Moderator forum asking if any employee can help with this.
ok, thanks all,
So the question now, is how does one convert a physical machine to a VMware machine with any other reasonable solution?
I want to pay a bit of money, install a bit of software, click a few buttons and end up with a VM.
With this?

Hi,
I'm using Workstation 16 and just tried to convert my guest, needless to say, it didn't work.
I used to use Converter to resize the guest disk, when needed. Converter used the VMX file. Seems like Starwinds does not use the VMX. How would one reconfigure the VMX once the VMDK was resized with Starwinds?
Also, if I downgraded the WS guest hardware, would converter work then? Trying to understand why converter no longer works.
Thanks
