I hope this is acceptable - I posted this under ESXi 5 since it gets more traffic and it's a general question, but I haven't gotten feedback there yet.
Overall my conversions seem viable leaving VS Tools in place. I think in reality, anything VS Tools added is replaced by the basic Converter operation anyway!
