database v2v conversion

Guys, i need to clone one VM in my ESXi Cluster with Windows Server 2008R2 with SQL 2008 and also a RDM Physical Disk attached.

Is it possible to do V2V without any problems? is it safe?

And i cannot shut down the source.

Yes it is possible and safe - ideally it would be beneficial if you could stop the SQL services to improve the probability of a successful V2V but of you cannot do the migration when the SQL server has a light load.
