Hello,
can anyone tell me why the VM Importer needs VirtualCenter??
I find this dependency very annoying!
I just want to make an ESX Server vmdk-file from an MS Virtual Server vhd-file, that's all.
I have a VC 1.3.1 and a VC 3.0 RC2 installed. VM Importer doesn't connect to neither version.
Thanks,
Sven
Hi Sven,
VC2 comes with ESX 3.0 RC2
VC2 is THE managementtool of VMware Infrastructure 3.
It is not possible anymore to manage ESX 3 server by webbrowser like you dit under the ESX 2.x versions.
If you are testing ESX3 please upgrade to VC2 and ude VMimporter to import MS Virtual Server files.
Have more fun with VMware Infrastructure 3 as designed by VMware.
Cheers,
Jan
Hi Sven,
The Vm Importer doesn't know how to create ESX vmdk format unless it connects directly to an ESX server. As you discovered, the current VM Importer beta is not compatible with the ESX 3 RC2 release, but we are working on getting a RC2 compatible release out the door Real Soon Now!
Thanks,
Bryan
