I've seen it called different things, but I can't seem to find the .iso to burn to CD so I can do a P2V conversion! Is it obvious what the most current version is? Can it be customized (it's Linux based, right?)
Can someone tell me where to find this elusive .iso???
🙂

Hello.
Note: Discussion successfully moved from Backup & Recovery to Converter
Check out this discussion.
Good Luck!
If you are an Enterprise customer you can still download the second version of the VMware Coldclone CD - good luck while searching for the dopwnload.
That CD is based on Windows 2003 PE 1.
You can also use any Linux LiveCD to do Coldclones: create a full diskimage with dd and store it as import-flat.vmdk
The rest can be done in a second step
If you still have a copy of Converter 3.0.3 you can create a Windows based Coldclone CD yourself - see my site for a construction kit.

Can you give me a clarification on a couple of things?
Are you saying you can use ANY live, Linux based CD to dd the disk and all I need to do is save the image as import-flat.vmdk??? Is it that easy? Does it matter what the file name is as long as it has a .vmdk extension?
Also, I don't (unfortunately) have a copy of Converter 3.0.3. Is there anywhere I can get a copy? Is it still available from VMWare somewhere?
Thank you!
Ed
Coldclone P2V is a 2 steps process:
1. create a diskimage
2. adjust the drivers
A full disk image created with dd can be used as the *-flat.vmdk - then you need to create a descriptor file for it manually - see my notes
http://sanbarrow.com/vmdk-howtos.html#calcgeoexample
Once you have a valid vmdk - that means the descriptorfile plus the flat.vmdk you then create a new VM from scratch and attach the vmdk you just created.
Then you can use Converters "configure machine" option to adjust the drivers in a second step. (I assume you speak about a Windows system)
There are still sources in the internet that offer Converter 3.0.3 as a download - google should find them.

Nope
