Where to download VMware converter standalone

Hi,

Where can be downloaded "VMware converter Standalone"? When searching by below link, it gives two results. When clicked on "VMware vCenter Converter Standalone 6.2", it brings to another screen with no results.

https://customerconnect.vmware.com/downloads/search?query=converter

Thanks,

Ivan

You will have to login to download.

VMware removed the Converter from the available downloadable products.
For details see https://blogs.vmware.com/vsphere/2022/02/vcenter-converter-unavailable-for-download.html

An alternative might be StarWind's Converter.

vmconverter is no longer officially supported - i believe there are many sites hosting this outside of the vmware bubble, but caution is advised with this route. Other options may be to use  StarWind V2V converter this may help.

If you are using Veeam then there is also a possibility to P2V using the tools within veeam.

The last blog post mentioned that they were starting a new project that would bring this functionality however there have bene no updates since February.

There are a few 3rd party apps mentioned which would accomplish the task.

Thanks for these suggestions.  As part of my archiving system I always roll my current PC into a VM when I'm ready to replace it.  I typically use Workstation to perform this however it relies on the standalone.   It's making me a bit nervous about keeping this practice moving forward, I'm hoping they have a solution moving forward.

As I said above, VMware vCenter Converter has been discontinued.

If you still need to convert a physical machine, you need to use a third-party tool.  Like a backup(I use Veeam for this) tool or StartWin P2V.

How to:

https://www.starwindsoftware.com/v2v-help/PhysicalDisksandP2VScenario.html

But using a backup tool works very well. Backup a physical machine as a VM, then restore the backup as VM. do not forget about the pre and post P2V tasks so that you have a good conversion.

I hope this can help.

I can't download the V2V from starwind website. It says it emailed me the link but no matter what address I use it never arrives. Is there anywhere else I can download it?

Both tools : V2V Converter and P2V Migrator are at the moment not available because the "send dowwnload link" of the Starwind Website is broken. Sounds pretty familiar ... - usable websites are completely overrated ....
