What Files are installed when the 'agent' is installed on an NT4.0 System

Trying to convert an NT4.0 System with Sp6a and VMware Converter installs an agent and then request the system to be rebooted.

When the agent is installed, does anyone know what files are installed and where ?

I just want to know in case something goes wrong and I need to back-out the 'agent' by hand.

Did you connect with a local administrator account with privileges to install and run services?

You can find the manual backout steps at:

I have not tried an NT 4.0 system but this may point you in the right direction.

Check the services in control panel. You should see a "VMWare Converter Service"

The path to the exe is usually somewhere around here "C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Converter\vmware-ufad.exe"

If an uninstall fails, you can remove the service with a resource kit utility. Sorry I can't remember the name now.

I've checked C:\program file and there is no folder or files making reference to VMware.

There is no VMware services, but i suspect the service will mostly likely not appear until i've done the reboot.

I've found a vmware-ufad-1.log in the C:\Winnt directory, this is full of information showing what has been updated and changed with reference to registry and system files....there seems to be a lot!.

Its a bit dissapointing they haven't included a simple batch or script to back-out the agent.

Here is an extract of the vmware-ufad-1.log
