Warning:Unable to locate the required Sysprep files.

I know that this queston was already posted: http://communities.vmware.com/message/1211629 but I would still like some clarificaton:

1. Do I have to create sysprep files and if I do how to do it?

2. Does "Configure guest preferences for the virtual machine" needs to be checked or should it stay grey out?

Thanks

Hi,

Sysprep files are usually downloaded from Microsoft.

The checkbox will be enabled once you locate the required sysprep files.

Cheers,

Vik

Download per out http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1005593/

Configure guest preferences is specifically sysprep, and is not required for the conversion to occur. This will let you change settings in the virtual machine being produced by converter:

- host name

- domain association

- Set a static IP Address to a NIC

- Generate a new SID

So if I just want to convert server as it is, I don;t have to worry about it?

The reason that I am asking, I did the conversion without sysprep and even though it says that conversion complete succesfully, virtual machine did not start up at all.
