Vmware converter issue?

When I use the converter to import a virtual machine from ESX server to another I lose the ability to use the virtual cd rom or floppy disk/thumb drive. Does anyone know why this happens?

Can you be more specific? What are the symptoms? Do the CD/Floppy not appear inside the VM? Have you tried all 3 mapping types-- to a physical CD/Floppy on the ESX Server host, to an ISO/FLP in a datastore, and to a physical CD/Floppy or ISO/FLP on your VI Client desktop? (The latter requires that you first power on the VM.)

unplug every single non-necessary device (floppy/cdrom/usb/etc)

check to make sure devicemanager is corrected accordingly

reboot

install converter 3.0.1 as the local admin (not a domain admin or a member of any admin group) directly to the physical machine

reboot

run converter 3.0.1 as the local admin and choose "this local machine"

if it still fails, produce the converter log - maybe we can see skipped drivers etc

Within the VM console window there are no options to mount cd/floppy/usb.

When you moved it from ESX Server, did you move it to another ESX Server host? Are you going from ESX Server 3.x to 3.x or to another version?

Keep in mind that USB is not supported in ESX Server VMs.
