Vmware converter cannot see /

Hi.

I'm trying to convert a Debian 6 linux.

But am not able to do this.

The converter first can't see /boot.

After remounting /boot directly this works.

But now I ran into a new problem.

The converter can't see the / partition.

Let me start with a disclaimer: Debian is not a supported source. What follows is an attempt to analyze the problem and look for workarounds, nothing tested neither guaranteed. Take care to do no harm to your source machine.

The issue here is that it uses virtual block devices "/dev/vd*". Converter recognizes "/dev/xvd*" (to support Xen sources) but not "/dev/vd*".

As an possible workaround, can you try to make hard links with names starting with 'x' to 'vdb1'. 'vdc1' etc. and try again?
