Hi.
I tried to uninstall Vmware Vcenter Converter Standalone on a DC so that I could try and V2V it to a VMware server (now is on Hyper-V).
I tried to do a remote from another server which I have previously V2V to the new VMware base and it failed with "target has a newer version" so I tried to uninstall the Converter.
Tried again the remote method but it failed with error 1603.
Now I tried to install the converter again and it fails with: Can't stop service... there are no VMware services running...
Please check whether the installation/uninstallation created log files somewhere in your %temp% folder(s) to see whether they contain details about the error.
As a side note, converting a live (powered on) DC is neither recommended nor supported, and can result in an Active Directory corruption!
The recommended way is to create another DC, migrate the different features/roles to it, and then decommission the old DC.

I know it's a bad practice but in this case is the only way I have to remove from that Hyper-V (Windows Core, Workgroup and no local admin password). They've also "planted" Veeam server no this DC and a bunch of other services...
vminst.log:
The “spoiler” function is better than doing a copy/paste of huge text logs - expand the toolbar with ... then select the icon of a triangle with an exclamation mark.
Here is an example:
After roaming around on the forums I've managed to get it installed.
I removed the instalation from the registry and then I aded the service with :
sc create vmware-converter-agent binPath= "C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware vCenter Converter Standalone\vmware-converter-a.exe" displayname= "VMware vCenter Standalone Agent".
After that I did an install and it's working again.
