Good afternoon everyone,
i am trying to virtualize an old xp machine
OS: Windows XP Professional
Version: 2002 Service Pack 3
Could anyone be so kind and tell me which version of the VmWare Converter is best, and provide a link where i can download it?
NOTE: the target machine is not connected to the internet, therefore i need to download the installation package on another machine, and then transfer it to the target.
Thanks,
Adriano
An additional information.
I will run the xp virtual machine, when obtained, by VmWare Player 15, on Windows 7 and Windows 10.
Ok friends, seems that i have solved the problem.
I simply installed the Converter 6.2 on the XP machine and it works.
Maybe this can be of some use for others too.
Thanks however.
You can do it with many old versions like:
I converted a physical windows server 2000 with this version.
And also check the required ports for P2V converting:
TCP/IP and UDP Port Requirements for Conversion
Converter Standalone server to Fileshare path | TCP - 445, 139 UPD - 137, 138 |
Converter Standalone client to Converter Standalone server | TCP - 443 |
Converter Standalone server to vCenter Server | TCP - 443 |
Converter Standalone server to the destination ESXi | TCP - 902 |
10 Years ago we use VMware Converter 3.0 to convert W2k3 and XP.
Regards
Joerg
Thanks everybody for your help!
However, the solution is simpler than one may expect: the last version of Converter (6.2) works perfectly on XP.
I already created the virtual machine, and it works on windows 7 better (faster) than the original machine!
All the Best
Adriano
