Hi all,
I am using vconverter 4.3 to convert P2V Linux(Ubuntu 10.4, 64bit) machine. My conversion fails at 99%. I can see the new created vmachine in client 4.1 But everytime i try to turn it on, all i see is "error loading operationg system". I am a newbie to vmware. I will appreciate any help, i have been having problem with since last 2 days but have had no success.
I have attached the log file for reference.
Did you get this resolved?

Hi Kjb,
Thanks for replying. I am still stuck at the point. I can convert the machine but cant move any further with the virtual box. I will aprreciate any input.
Thanks!
Did you try booting with a livecd and see if the filesystems were intact?

Hello,
Moved to the VMware Converter forum.
I would suggest you ensure the SCSI drivers you will be using are part of your kernel's initrd before using VMware converter. This sounds like the issue. Or convert from SATA to IDE not to SCSI, therefore the proper drivers will be available.

Hi,
@Kjb - I did try botting it up with a live cd but no luck. I can see the files from the physical linux box on the new converted machine but cant mount them for some reason. I was thinking there may be some issue with partitions. Everything looks good just that i cant mount the old files on the new virtual box.
@Edward - I will try your suggestion. I will go for SATA to IDE and then try to convert it. Hopefully it should work.
Thanks for replying!
you could convert to IDE without starting over - but this only makes sense if the filesystem arrived completely
