VMware-convertercd-4.1.1-206170 coldclone

How to make a cold clone server with thin provisioning disk using VMware-convertercd-4.1.1-206170? is it posible?

there is an option at the end of the wizard in which you could modify the virtual disk and there is an option to select thin disk.

are you sure? i don't see the option anywhere

where is it exactly? i'm using cold clone with cd convertercd-4.1.1-206170

sorry, i was referring to a hot clone. however here is the screenshot. Probably it would be something similiar for cold clone.

thans a lot, but this option isn't on cold cloning and i don't understand why VMware don't allow creating thin disk in cold cloning

thanks and i learn something new here. however if you have storage vmotion, you could then do a thin to think using it after the completion of the conversion.

Yes, we know that it's posible to change from thick to thin, but on large disks this operation takes a lot time and it needs a diferent storage, and our customers normally don't have any of those things

coldclone to USB-disk
then upload/convert  the vmdk with vmware-vdiskmanager to ESX

you need to have Workstation installed on a Windows-admin host
