VMware Converter vs DELL PowerEdge 1950 & 2950

Hi

I boot on Vmware Converter (3.0.3) live CD everything seem to going fine until I try to convert my server. This error "Unable to determine Guest Operating System"

It's like if converter don't see hard drive or the SCSI controleur. During I provide drivers for SCSI controlleur.

Other information all firmware are up to date on my PE 1950 & 2950 .

Someone add a success story with a DELL PowerEdge 1950, 2950 & vmware converter live CD ?

You'll need a driver for the PERC 5i driver.

This should get you the driver.

http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/downloads/en/downloads_splash?c=us&l=en&s...

If you want to integrate it into the boot disc, then you can do the following from a command line:

petool.exe -i coldclone.iso -d C:\dell\drivers\R194151\

I have attached an example output. Should you be so incline to do a network driver, you need to extract the one from the installer kit.

http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/downloads/en/downloads_splash?c=us&l=en&s...

C:\>NIC_DRVR_WIN_R196231.EXE /s /e=C:\2950NIC

petool.exe -i coldclone.iso -n C:\2950NIC

that should get you going!!!

4.0.2u3 is actually related to the one packaged with Virtual Center, and can be found on the Virtual Center download page.

Please do not confuse the 2 versions. One is a beta as 4.0.0 and VERY different from 4.0.2u3 (which is basically 3.0.3 but from the virtual center download page).

Hi

I'm very interest to try the beta Converter 4.0.0. Where I can download it? I see a link in an other thread but I don't have access. I got this message "You do not have the permissions to perform this action or access this

page. For further assistance, please contact a VMware Communities moderator."

Thanks again
