VMWare converter: Error Failed to clone volume 'C:'

Hi,

I have a windows server 2008 vm image on a esxi 3.5 server.

I am moving this image to another esxi server which is on the same subnet using VMWare converter 4.0.

But I am getting "Error Failed to clone volume 'C:'"all the times.

I tried all options like "select volumes to copy","copy all disks and maintain layout" etc on the destination edit options but none of them worked and getting the same error.

Please find the vmware converter logs attached.

Urgent please help.Thanks in advance.

Note: I read lot of discussion forms ,tried almost everything but still the same error.

On which machine are you running the converter ?

Had you just tried to run the converter on the VM to clone/transfer ?

Had you just checked (and checked again) all name resolution within VMs and phisical ESXi hosts ?

I am running the VMWare converter on my laptop.

From my machine gave ths source esxi server info and destination esxi server info and once I try to convert getting the error as mentioned above.

Checked all the name resolutions within VM but still the same.

I can't open our log file.

Did you check if the "service shadow copy" is enable on windows services ?

Are you trying HOT or COLD converter (p2V)?

In Converter Standalone agent log you will find the following error:

[NFC ERROR] File error -- Failed to write to the target file: An error was detected.

This might be due to a known file system issue on Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008.

Workarounds:

• Install the latest available hotfix on your host system. For more information on this issue and hot fix downloads, see

• Switch on the<code>* preallocateTargetDisks</code>* flag in the<code>* converter-agent.xml</code>* file. See Switching On Disk Pre-Allocation for Flat Target virtual Disks (KB 1008300) for details.

I am still getting the same error.

Please find the logs agent and server attached.

Please help.
