VMWare Converter Formatting

We are using VMWare Converter 3.0.2 to P2V some physical servers. During the conversion of the server I noticed in the VMWare Converter console that when creating the disks for the VM it the disks before it copies the data over from the physical server. Doe anyone know if this is a "Quick format" or a "Normal format"?

The reason I ask is we have a Hitachi USPV SAN that has a thin provision feature, that we are not able to take advantage of when P2Ving a server. Thin provisioning is a feature of the Hitachi SAN that allows us to provision more disk to a LUN than we physically have, with the understanding that the disk will be capacity will be used over time. The only way to take advantage of this feature is if a Windows VM partition is quick formatted.

Converter creates .vmdk files. What you may be looking for requires an RDM and not a .vmdk inside a VMFS.
