After uninstalling the Virtual Machine Importer 2.0 Beta on Windows XP SP2 and rebooting, the following items are left behind:
o C:\Program Files\Common Files\VMware\VMware Virtual Image Editing\ (contains several .dll and .exe)
o C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Virtual Machine Importer 2 (contains log files)
o C:\Windows\TEMP\vmware-SYSTEM
o C:\Windows\TEMP\vmware-vmount.log
o Windows Service "VMWare Virtual Mount Manager Extended" is still installed and running and is set to Automatic

Hi Dave,
This is a known issue with the beta. The workaround is as follows:
The VMware Virtual Mount Manager Extended service service is used by other VMware products, including VM Importer 1.x, DiskMount 3 (GSX), and DiskMount 5.5 (Workstation). If no other VMware products are installed, Virtual Machine Importer Beta should uninstall this service when it is uninstalled, but does not. Workaround: If you have no other VMware products installed, the VMware Virtual Mount Manager Extended service can safely be disregarded. If you prefer, you can stop the service, unregister it (enter "cd \Program Files\Common Files\VMware\VMware Virtual Image Editing" followed by "vmount2 /unregserver" at a command prompt) and remove the directory \Program Files\Common Files\VMware\VMware Virtual Image Editing.
Thanks,
-Alvin
Thanks for this. It works great.
Since posting I spotted this in the release notes, so my fault for not reading them.
I've also noticed that VMWare Server Beta 3 now has the Virtual Machine Importer 1.5 included and not 2.0 beta as I would have expected. I didn't see an entry for it in the start menu so I guess it must be built into the VMWare Server Manager application now.

Right now, VM Importer 2.0 is only available as a standalone application and is not bundled with any product.
