Unable to determine Guest Operating System

I am trying to evaluate Fusion for my MacBook Pro, which requires that I first use Converter. I cannot get past the fourth screen of the VMWare Converter Import Wizard, getting the above error message each time. I am running XP Home.

Hi,

I have seen that come up when I used an old version of converter.

I downloaded this version this morning. Is there some way to use Fusion that doesn't involve Converter?

Not that I am aware of maybe platespin, is there anything out of the ordinary running on the XP source system.

Any special partition or boot loader configured?

Are you trying to convert a running physical machine or a Ghost image file or a VirtualPC virtual machine? If a physical machine or other virtual machine, then install Converter inside the XP machine and run Converter there. This often will get past the "unable to determine geust OS" error.

Also, if you're evaluating Fusion, you could just create a new virtual machine. Install Windows in trial mode (by not activating Windows.)
