    Yes, that should work.

What exact error do you get? Anything else that could help finding the problem?

Do you connect to ESX directly? You can also use the Virtual Center Server there.

    Are your IP/hostname/credentials ok?

I have tried connecting direct to ESX and VC Server.

    Same error.

It works fine from physical machines and from old ESX 2.5x server.

    Didnt work good from GSX.

What i havent checked is converting as image.

Maybe the log on the system where you run converter on brings some light into this. It's in %windir%\temp\vmware-temp.

This is the last part of logfail.

Says has trouble connect to host (ESX).

No trouble ping from the machine that wanna move.

    Look like agent installs ok.

Have you already tried to connect directly to the IP (not DNS hostname)?

When i first tried i tried both ip and dns name.

And i tried the first two options in the converting menu.

What i found out to work is the converting from vmdk files. Not the VM server itself.

Its up and running on new ESX cluster now. Thanks all.

Well, i cheered too fast hehe.

What i notice after converting image was that its taking the wrong one.

I can only select the .vmx file when converting.

But it seems like it refer to wrong vmdk file.

In the catalogue it has a regular .vmdk file with old date and a .vmdk.redo file with current date.

How can i convert the correct one soo its up to date. Seems like the file the .vmx use is the regular .vmdk file while the one i want is the .redo file.

    Any ideas?

if your just trying to import a gsx vm into esx, then you can just copy it over (scp/winscp) and run vmkfstools -i to import it

question then is, should i copy both the .vmdk file and the .vmdk.redo file or just the .redo file since it is the newest.

    thanx,

You should commit your REDO file and change your disk to persistent before copying/importing/converting.
