Standalone Converter 6.2.0.1 failed to install agent on 2012r2 error 1603 signature missing or wrong

Failed to install converter agent on windows 2012r2, error 1603.  If try to run:

VMware-converter-a.exe <ip addr> <ip addr>

from the command line on this 2012r2 server get this error:

signature wrong or missing!

Also cannot install the Standalone Converter v6.2.0.1 on this 2012R2 server - error is service failed to start.

Tried editing registry and extending timeout to 30000 and 60000 per documents I found online, no help.

Messed with secpol and group policy, but also no help.

Anybody see this and fix it?

It seems the trouble is McAfee Application Control is installed and in control.

Important question - is there internet connection on computer? It's used to verify signatures of Converter's binary.

Yes. Discovered that this was required with two 2008r2 machines that I was finally able to convert.  Can ping www.google.com on this machine and dns responds with the correct ip addr. Trying to find older versions of Standalone Converter for download (6.0 and 6.1, 6.11) to try as getting nowhere with v6.2.0.1.

The other possibility is to import VeriSign Class 3 Public Primary Certification Authority - G5 crt as trusted certificate from https://knowledge.digicert.com/solution/SO5624.html

Thanks.  Unfortunately that didn't work.  The logs show Service did not start - and includes error 1053.  All the documents on this error say to increase ServicesPipeTimeout in registry and life will be good. Unfortunately that doesn't work in this case either.

The value of ServicesPipeTimeout still need to be set to 5+ min.

For verification of certificates you need to invoke properties of vmware-converter.exe and check that 'View certificate'/'Certification Path' is shown without errors into.
