Receive "File [destination][filename] was not found" error immediately after starting Powered On Physical to Virtual conversion

I receive the following error when trying to start a p2v conversion on the powered-on machine that is being converted and saving to network share. Error happens immediately after wizard closes.

Untitled picture.png

The converter software is able to get to the share and write, as I tested it by saving the log files from the converter to the share so it does not appear to be a rights issue.

Thoughts?

You need to be able to access \\localmachine\sharedname from the *SOURCE* machine. The way Windows P2V conversions work is to install an agent on the source, then the agent connects to the target and transfers the data. Can you browse \\localmachine\sharedname from the source (but not from where Converter is installed)?

Set the UNC path as destination and try again.

I tired using the unc path instead of the mapped drive and I get the following error:

A general system error occurred: The system detected a possible attempt to compromise security. Please ensure that you can contact the server that authenticated you.

Are you able to access the UNC path from the source as i mentioned? Also can you provide insight of the converter logs?

Could you upload log bundle?

What's your version of Converter? Uninstall and get 6.2.0.1 build - an UNC access issue was resolved, couldn't say it's your issue but could help.

Unfortunately most important logs (worker's) are missing, find them in %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\VMware\VMware vCenter Converter Standalone\logs folder.

The error "The system detected a possible attempt to compromise security. Please ensure that you can contact the server that authenticated you." may refer to a Windows bug, see Error: The system detected a possible attempt to compromise - Microsoft Community .

The previous line in the log reads:

2018-08-02T10:30:03.953-04:00 warning vmware-converter-worker[14924] [Originator@6876 sub=Libs] FileIOCreateRetry: Unrecognized error code: 1265

Error 1265 stands for "The system cannot contact a domain controller to service the authentication request. Please try again later.". Can you try logging in the source machine using the local 'Administrator' user?

IMO your problem is because of Blue Coat Systems - Wikipedia installed.

Also there are McAfee and BitLocker active on your computer - all these software can prevent copy of volumes.

Try to deactivate such softwares and then convert you machine.

Everything but McAfee I am able to disable. Same result.

Uninstall 6.2, installed 6.0. works perfectly fine with SMB share, mapped drive to network share.
