Pb UUID after converting with converter 3.0

Hi,

I've converted XP SP2 to VM with converter 3.0 and all was OK.

On Linux (FC6) I've tried to launch the XP and It asked me to keep or create a the UUID.

I've answered "keep" and it crashed without message and returning the the launching screen.

After that I've tried to modify the UUID manually changing 1 letter for instence and using this command " vmware-cmd -s register XP_SP2.vmx" but now I've the following message "unable to change power state of VM : the process exited with and error"

\- Have you got and idea to solve this ?

\- Coulf you explain the meaning of uuid and so on the way to modify it ?

Thx

The UUID is a virtual machine identifier that is stored in the SMBIOS. It is generated when you first power on a VM and remains constant until you move the VM.

Shut down the VM, and regenerate a new UUID.

Hi,

I would be happy to generate a new UUID but it doen't ask me to do this anymore, it just crash with the indicated massage.

Is there another solution to generate a new UUID ?

Thx

Sure - just delete the 2 lines in the vmx file with uuid=blahblah in them. If they don't exist, then the VMware product will automatically generate them.
