P2V of mail, and sharepoint server. Do I need to shutdown the services?

I am planning on doing a P2V of a mail servers (Mdaemon),a Lotus Notes server, and a Sharepoint server (MSSQL server included). Is it necesary to shut down the services during the migration?

Necessary, no, recommended, definitely yes. I would not migrate Domino or SQL at all while they are running. You're asking for trouble/corruption if you do.
