Hi! I need some help with this on:
vSphere Client 4.0.0 Build 208111
vCenter Server 4.0.0 Build 208111
Hosts ESX 4.0.0 Build 261974
Converter Enterprise Agent 4.1.1 Build 20617
Source Windows Server 2003 std SP1 x86 - HP ProLiant ML370
Trying to P2V using the "Import Machine" from vCenter. After the Converter Agent is installed, the Import Wizard displays an error: Unknown error generated from client. After clicking OK. The VI client terminates.
The source server and the ESX host are on a separate location than the vCenter, but on the "same" network. Other P2V from the same location have gone without problems.

Can't find anything about your error. Sometimes it's better to install converter stand alone locally on the server that you are trying to convert. Then run the converter locally against your virtual infrastructure.

Which OS are you trying to convert? Do you have a firewall in the middle of the networks?

Hi, thanks for your reply!
OS of the server: Windows 2003 standard Service Pack 1, running SQL Server 2000 and IIS v6.0
The network-team says there is no firewall between the locations and the windows firewall is disabled.
Brg, Per Kristian
Have you seen this message in your log files:
Host already had a different share mapped with conflicting credentials. Could not map share
Do you have a network mapping in place with a username different than the one that you are using for the converter process?

I finally gave up and tried using the latest version of Standalone Converter.
Guess what? If worked flawlessly....
Next time I run into problems with the Converter Agent, I will not waste this much time investigating, just run the Standalone.
Well lesson learned!
Thanks Nicolás!
