P2V errors - not sure how to fix

Hi

I hope somebody can help.  I am trying to import a machine into vcenter and every time it fails.

The machine is in our DMZ.  I have already done some of the machines in our DMZ successfully so I know it is not a firewall problem.  i have looked through the logs and I believe it is something to do with the following:

[#2] [j6] [2011-01-17 11:43:55.937 'App' 1964 warning] [blockLevelVolumeCloningTaskImpl,764] Unable to get fileextents for \\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy2\\pagefile.sys. Error: 2

But i do not know how to fix this problem so the P2V will work.  shadow Copy is not enabled on the server and i have asked the covnertor to ignore pagefile and hibernation files.  I have attached the full log as well.

if anybody could help with this I would be really grateful.

Thanks

Richard

If it is a Windows server, try to run a ChkDsk C:/f (and for other volumes)

to fix any problems on your hard disk (reboot may be neccessary).

what is the source machine ? - which OS ? - is it a VM or a physical machine ?
which Converter did you use ?

Hi

Yes, it would be useful if I gave that info wouldn't it... :smileylaugh:

It is a windows server 2003 standard sp2 machine and it is a physical machine.  i am using vCenter Convertor.

Thanks

Hi

I have run a chkdsk on all volumes and have rerun the P2V.  It failed again at which looks like the same point.  It finished cloning the C Drive and then starts on the D drive and failes about just afterwards.

Thanks

Richard

for 2003 sp2 I would use Converter 3.0.3 - NOT any of the later versions.

Before you try again ...
run
net start vss
inside the source 2003 machine
if that does not work - fix that first
