P2V converstion of Windows 7 Pro laptop - Unable to create

I'm attempting to perform a P2V converstion on an HP ProBook 4730s laptop running Windows 7 Pro 32-Bit. I start the VMWare VCenter Converter (versino: 5.0.0 build-470252).

It runs for about 30 minutes and gets to 95%-97% complete and fails with the following error: Unable to create '\\.\vstro2-mntapi10-shared-5C3EE52700005 0060000000012000000\$Reconfig$'.

If I attempt to boot the new virtual pc it gives a BSOD and reboots.

Is there anything I can do to get this laptop converted into my VM enviroment?

Josh

a Bluescreen is a good sign - do you get the bluescreen 7B or a different one ?

check the vmx-file - if it use an IDE-disk you can fix the problem without rerunning Converter again

Yes I get a 7B BSOD and it is running on an IDE disk.

What can I check in the VMX file?
