P2V conversion problem, destination fails 1st boot NTLDR missing or corrupt

I am using VMware standalone converter to hot-clone a Windows server 2003 physical machine.  The task completes succesfully, but the destination system fails to boot wiht error:

NTLDR is missing or corrupt.

I've checked the obvious such as BIOS boot order. There is no optical/floppy drive attached to this VM.  I've tried various troubleshooting tips I've found on these forums to no avail.  Source system is Windows Server 2003, setup with windows software based RAID 1 mirror which seems to be supported for hot clone.

Can someone please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong?

Yes I did.  I didn't try SCSI options, but I did try preserve source and IDE.  The phyiscal discs in source are IDE

Well, after much searching I came across this:

I used the SCIS LSI logic setting, which seemed like the INCORRECT choice, and voila - machine now boots.  Argh!
