I just converted a running Windows XP system, to a VM, on an ESXi 4, with the latest 208167 buld applied.
When I try and boot this, I just get a black console, and the CPU consumed leaps up to, and remains at 100%.
Looking at the logs, I can't see any errors thrown, when the machine starts.
What can I do, to see what the issue is here.
Cheers.
did you create a IDE-based VM ?
That will not work - though it is offered as an option. Converter uses a bluff here
If not post much more details

Hello,
How did you do the conversion?
What does the disk/partition layout look like? Any dynamic disks in there?
Are you able to boot into BIOS?
When you did the conversion what options did you select (install vm tools, clear restore points, etc)?
I've never seen that happen before, so I would likely go back to the conversion and check steps there:
Additionally, this post looks similar to your problem : http://communities.vmware.com/thread/194921;jsessionid=947ACCE3FC691207B5722306E98313DB

I didn't think I did, but checking the definition in ESXi, it looks like that's what happened.
I'll run the conversion again tonight, but make sure I convert to a SCSI device.
If that also doesn't work, what other details should I post.
Cheers.
try again first - use Buslogic when asked for the controller.
If that does not work either try Converter 3.0.3 next
if that still fails post boot.ini and a screenshot of diskmanagement of the XP-source

SCSI was the answer.
Thanks.
