  • 1.  P2V Windows 2003 SBS with general system error

    Posted Jun 18, 2014 12:00 PM

    Hi everyone,

I try convert P2V Windows 2003 SBS. During submitting conversion job I've got "General system error occurred: unknown internal error".

I found somewhere information that reason is more than one active disk partition, so I tried convert server with selecting only system partition and not active backup partitions.

This conversion fails at 1% with status: FAILED: "Unable to start the change tracking driver." There isn't UAC in Win 2003 so info from KB 2019890 don't solve the problem.

I tried converter 5.1 and 5.5 with the same results.

What is the reason and how to solve it?

Trere are different kind of problems: - with all disks: 2014-06-09T09:25:45.371+02:00 [02276 info 'Default'] Building partition list: Can't have more then one active partition on a disk.
    - with system disk: 2014-06-17T16:36:14.523+02:00 [09504 warning 'task-2'] [StartBitmapDriver] Failed to start bitmap driver, error: The bitmap driver is not running, error=0

For the first one you need to remove 'active' i.e. bootable flag from other that real boot disk.
For the second one you need to verify status of bmdrvr: 'sc qc bmdrvr' and 'sc query bmdrvr'. As an alternative - if you not using incremental cloning the bitmap driver will not be used.
