Location for SYSPREP for P2V ?

Hi,

We install Converter Standalone on a Windows 7 workstation.

When we go through the configuration wizard, there is an information saying that the SYSPREP file should be located at a particular location on that workstation with Converter Standalone installed.

We just wonder when the SYSPREP file will be used ?   I believe the SYSPREP should be used when we start up the VM and SYSPREP should be located at vCenter Server.  Or SYSPREP is required during P2V process ?

Thanks

Hi,

Please find the sysprep location.

  • If vCenter Server is installed on Windows Server 2008 and above, directory_path is%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\VMware\VMware VirtualCenter\Sysprep which generally translates toC:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware VirtualCenter\Sysprep by default.

Note: C:\ProgramData may be a hidden folder.
  • If vCenter Server is installed on any other Windows operating system, directory_path is%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\VMware\VMware VirtualCenter\Sysprep\ which generally translates toC:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\VMware\VMware VirtualCenter\Sysprep\by default.

The below article gives fair idea to istall sysprep.

http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=100559...
