Linux P to V failing

I'm running a Linux P to V on a RHEL 4 u8 vm - connecting from VMware converter installed on another computer. It sits at 1% for hours and never goes past that then fails.  What could be the issue?

This is probably a converter helper issue. When you start a linux conversion, the converter creates a target machine (helper) that can have an automatic IP (dhcp) or a pre configured one (fixed, you can change these settings on the last conversion step). Check the summary tab of this VM during the conversion to check the IP it have, and try to ping this IP from your source Linux VM. Also, is important to check on what portgroup you attached the helper VM, it must be on a reachable network from the source perspective.

Newer versions of Converter are better at handling Linux P2Vs, but I still always use Platespin converter for these.

Get hold of a reseller and ask for a demo license (assuming you have many to do)

Also, if you are practical with Linux, it's really easy to handle a manual converter.

You can simple copy all the files (also with other partition schema) and then fix fstab, modules and boot loader configuration.
